PRIVACY NOTICE · UPDATED 27 AUGUST 2026
Useful insight, without identifying visitors.
This notice describes the optional analytics used on the A Clearer Path iGEM project website.
What we collect
After a visitor chooses “Allow anonymous analytics,” we record page and section views, link and button interactions, scroll-depth milestones, broad engagement-time ranges, referring hostname, campaign tags, browser and operating-system family, device and viewport category, browser language, and country code supplied by the delivery network.
What we do not collect
We do not store IP addresses, full user-agent strings, names, email addresses, precise location, keystrokes, form content, advertising identifiers, biometric information, or device fingerprints. A random identifier lasts only for the current browser tab and is not used to recognise a person across visits.
Purpose, choice, and retention
Analytics are used only to improve navigation, accessibility, content clarity, and the project story. Collection is optional and begins only after an affirmative choice. A Do Not Track browser signal is treated as a refusal. Event records are retained for no more than 90 days; reporting uses a rolling 30-day window.
Hosting and public content
The hosting and security provider may process short-lived technical request logs needed to deliver and protect the website. Team names, roles, photographs, and project material displayed on public pages can be indexed or cached by third parties independently of our analytics system.
Your choices
Declining analytics does not limit access to any content. Visitors can reset their choice by clearing this site’s local storage. Requests concerning project data should be sent through the team’s official iGEM contact channel.
